What’s Fab at New York Fashion Week 2010 Louise Roe’s Futuristic Forecast Let's talk about what’s fab. My fashion week predictions for full 2010, fashion week trends will fall into two distinct camps; the feminine and the futuristic. I reckon designers will be taking cues from award season Red Carpet and from pop culture like Avatar’s futuristic aliens and an education’s lady loving feminine Carey Mulligan. Designers like Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuiller, award season standout Georges Chakra and hot new comer Prabal Gurung are sure to show their lady-like side, looking at ruffles, voluminous tees and fishtail skirts. The poster girl for this old Hollywood feminine trend is Carey Mulligan. Her pink getup could be a prophesy of things to come. With her Audrey Hepburn-esque classic style, pixie cut and girly glamour. In short, the length is long and the fit is tight. The silhouette, think Jessica Rabbit coat, lots of curves, boobs are back, the waist whittle and order that burger ladies because curves are kicking skinny to the curve. In the other camp, leading the futuristic charge, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacoba, Yigal Azrouel, Christian Siriano and the Project Runway prodigies are turning out sharp shoulders and strong architectural lines. The mood is rebellious and the look is ferocious. Looking to Avatar, we’ll see more of Alexander McQueen’s bright serpentine, alien- inspired prints on the runways. Thanks for watching FabTV, stay fab.
