The Montreal International Jazz Festival is held every July drawing 1.5 million visitors. The festivities run for 11 days on four city blocks that are closed to traffic. And to the mixed street performers, makeup artists and a whole musical playground making the festival an ideal event to take the family to experience. From noon until the wee hours without a break, jazz in all its exciting variety is on display at numerous locations. It’s a unique opportunity to enjoy the roots of jazz, immerse yourself in mainstream or try out some new trends in music. More than 500 events include 353 outdoor concerts on 15 outdoor stages and more than 450 indoors. The enormous musical celebration brings together some 2000 illustrious musicians from 20 countries. With a mix that includes jazz, blues, Latin-rhythms, gospel and caged music, the Montreal Jazz Festival is one of the world’s great musical happenings.
