Upcoming Games from Capcom Hiroko Nakamura: Hi, this is Hiroko. Welcome to Akibatteru. Do you know where I am right now? I’ve come to the nail salon. Japan is famous for cute nail art, and today I came to show you and get my nails done. But first, we want to take you to a recent Microsoft press conference. And then we’ll stop at the convenience store to find some unique Japanese sweets. And we’ll be back here to show you my finished nails. As I’m sure you all know, there are lots of interesting games from Japan. Today we’re going to give you a special look into how those games are introduced. I’m in Tokyo at Omotesando Hills right now, and today Microsoft and Capcom are presenting their latest games at a press conference. This is the reception area for the press conference. Here, you have to hand over a business card, and you get one of these badges. Only people with these badges can go inside. Several hundred journalists came to the news conference, which is held around the same time every year. Speaking were Capcom CEO Kenzou Tsujimoto and Xbox Japan head Takashi Sensui. So what did they announce? The big news was the launch of “Lost Planet 2” in May this year. The game will go on sale in the U.S. and Europe on May 18 and in Japan on May 20. The near-simultaneous launch is different from the first edition of the game, which saw its release staggered over 2006 and 2007. The new version of the game will also feature characters Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago from “Gears of Wars.” “Super Street Fighter 4,” a follow-up to last year’s “Street Fighter 4” title, will be launched on April 17 in the U.S., April 28 in Japan and April 30 in Europe. Sensui-san gave us some other big news. Sensui-san: Of course Capcom announce the day a Monster Hunter frontier online this coming to Xbox 360. This is the big announcement. Of course the Monster Hunter Series on 360 and aside from Monster Hunter Capcom is relating many, many big titles. So, I’m very excited about that. Hiroko Nakamura: “Monster Hunter Frontier Online” will be released in the summer. It should help Xbox 360 in Japan because the game is really popular here. It was the top-selling game of 2009 on Amazon’s PC sales chart. We also saw a demonstration of “Dead Rising 2,” a gory game that sees players tape together objects to make weapons and then bash, slice, split or bludgeon zombies. Capcom said the game would launch in 2010 but didn’t provide any additional details. There were lots of games that looked good, weren’t there? I’m still here at the nail salon. Right now I’m drying the gel under a UV lamp. I’d going to ask a few questions. What are you putting on my right hand? Natsumi Fujiyam: This is color gel, which contains pigments. Hiroko Nakamura: Nail art takes nail polish to the extreme. On top of color, all sorts of things like glitter, stones, dried flowers and even feathers can be mounted on nails. In Japan it’s become a way through which women can express themselves, and you can find all sorts of women from teens to those in their 50s with nail art. Japan is home to the world’s best nail artists. It’s so popular that there are even magazines devoted to nail art, which provide ideas and inspiration for girls. Now the price is getting lower because more people have started doing their own nails at home. These materials are expensive, but once you got them, you can just create your own designs. Ok, she is almost done. I’ve got a secret to tell you. This is the first time that I’ve ever had my nails done! I like to cook a lot and do stuff with my hands. So it’s easier not to have anything on my nails. We’ll see how long this nail art lasts. Ahh, it feels good. Really good. Okay, they’re done. There are cherry blossom leaves and glitter. My nails were done really cute. They should be okay for about three weeks. Everyone, what do you think? Please send me your comments on our Facebook page or YouTube. So, we’re done with nails, and now I’m off to find some cute goods outside. In Japan, you can find convenience stores everywhere. Today we went shopping, and here’s what we found. This is chocolate-flavored soda drink. I’ve never had this before, but I’m going to try it. Okay, here I go. Ah, it smells of chocolate. It tastes of chocolate…yeah, basically just chocolate. It doesn’t taste so great. But it doesn’t taste horrible. It’s so-so. Okay, next, I know these are delicious. They sell them overseas too, strawberry-flavor Pocky. Ah, there’s even a “love-love” fortune telling. You choose one of these and check out your fortune on the back. Okay, there are two ways to eat Pocky. This is the first way and then this way. Two ways to eat. It tastes good. If you come to Japan, please try Pocky. So, did you enjoy today’s Akibatteru? Next time we’ll be featuring a special edition of Comic Market in Mito, and we’ll have other news as well. So make sure you watch for it. That’s all for today, goodbye!
