Thierry Mugler Fashion Designer Profile Thierry Mugler is not just a fashion designer; he’s a gifted artist and creator of timeless pieces that will be remembered for many years to come. Born in Strasbourg, France Mugler is the genius behind the label of the same name. Studying as a designer and creating clothing for France at the same time he received his first job in Paris as a window dresser and by 1975 had established his own label for women, which was followed by men’s clothing a few years later. His work over the years has had quite a unique style with wide shoulders and shoulder pads, tiny waists and solid in your face colors. He would exaggerate colors and gain influences from insects and people of film wear. In 1995 saw the event of the season with Mugler’s anniversary extravaganza featuring 80 models including Hitchcock actress Tippi Hedren, Jerry Hall and the appearance of super model Claudia Schiffer. Muscular man in sequined G-strings and combat boots rose to founding toms-toms. Super models strutted in power suits caught a lingerie and Moulin Rouge outfit with tussles. He opened in Paris in 1996 spring summer ready to wear shows with the collection that was less rapturously received than his anniversary show with enormous spaceships size and eye covering hatch providing a touch of humor. He choose classic black and white outfit with the short black skirts revealing body stockings and see-through gowns. Mugler top of the hope couture in 1997 by creating a high-tech well that insect women and crap bearing for his first stuff of art custom made tailoring. His ultra curvy hour glass suits top seen stockings and stiletto heels and the sequined butterfly tapestry of a slicky sheet painted on Jerry Hall or the sadomasochistic virgin of the evening gown in Latex mark the show. In 1998 he opened the host couture season in Paris with the display of revealing frocks tinged with a bit more of sadomasochism. He opened the show with cigarette trials with warm with jackets, blousing at the back and simple berets and the slender create cocktail dress with feathers and glass straps around the legs. The show nostalgically hot back to Mugler’s heyday from the signature hour glass suits with pointed football show this in swollen hips to the raise of shot black evening sheets with slim straps leaving not much to the imagination. His 1999 haute couture collection made of devastatingly feminine evening gowns exuded glamour and wealth. Models some of whom wear corsets to create unbelievable waist lines stroll down the walk way as if there at the opening of the 1930’s Hollywood film. Using pleated black silk Mugler created Chris Victorian colors and long lean skirts, cloud like dresses with waffle skirts were cut to be wearable but not seat down able. Almost the decade on and at the home of Thierry Mugler was American designer Thomas Engel Hart. He gave the catwalk of Paris in men’s fashion an industrial vibe with tapered pants crop above the angle and pad with paired with vinyl Chelsea boots. Tight fitting black jeans were padded between the knees while zip military style flight suits came blaze cotton or batted silver leather in the larger than life collection. The Thierry Mugler look has now become popular celebrity A listed such musicians Ashanti who was recently seen wearing a white vintage Thierry Mugler dress. And actress Naomi Watts hasn’t really worn Mugler she was even named the face of his fragrance Angel. Having used some interesting and quite dramatic influences for the labels collections we’d been able to see some unusual designs and use of material such as PBC in space age things which have given Thierry Mugler its timeless, dramatic and fun image.
