Thierry Mugler Fashion Designer Profile Thierry Mugler is not just a fashion designer; he’s a gifted artist and creator of timeless pieces that will be remembered for many years to come. Born in Strasbourg, France Mugler is the genius behind the label of the same name. Studying as a designer and creating clothing for France at the same time he received his first job in Paris as a window dresser and by 1975 had established his own label for women, which was followed by men’s clothing a few years later. His work over the years has had quite a unique style with wide shoulders and shoulder pads, tiny waists and solid in your face colors. He would exaggerate colors and gain influences from insects and people of film wear. In 1995 saw the event of the season with Mugler’s anniversary extravaganza featuring 80 models including Hitchcock actress Tippi Hedren, Jerry Hall and the appearance of super model Claudia Schiffer. Muscular man in sequined G-strings and combat boots rose to founding toms-toms. Super models strutted in power suits caught a lingerie and Moulin Rouge outfit with tussles. He opened in Paris in 1996 spring summer ready to wear shows with the collection that was less rapturously received than his anniversary show with enormous spaceships size and eye covering hatch providing a touch of humor. He choose classic black and white outfit with the short black skirts revealing body stockings and see-through gowns.
