Nigel Barker's Tips to Pose Like a Model and Fashion Week Looks From Milan & New York Allison McNamara: We talk with America’s next top model judge and fashion photographer, Nigel Barker who shows us tricks from his new book, Nigel Barker’s “Beauty Equation” on how to pose like a model and take the perfect picture. Nigel Barker: Spontaneity is very useful when you’re trying to take a picture. As a model, you don’t just want to be that façade. You're going to have something that’s going to be great spot. It’s my job to catch right after them. Are you authentic? Are you compassionate? Do you have a sense of humor? If you’re a gaff, be a gaff. If you’re punk, be a punk. Be yourself because there’s nothing more beautiful than the individual that you are. Allison McNamara: We’re going to try and put all that to action and we brought in Jamie who works here at POPSUGAR. Nigel Barker: There’s really nothing more important than smiling with your eyes. Your eyes are the windows to your soul and they truly tell the story of who you are so be iconic from the inside out. Not losing your smile with your eyes I want you just talk to me with your eyes. Think of chocolate soufflé. What do you have for breakfast this morning? Who is your secret crush? You see, have your eyes are immediately talking, but otherwise you brought dull, listless eyes. People like to talk about having a good side and a bad side. It’s not the case. You may think you got a bad side, but little bad side might be what other people like. Allison McNamara: Thank you so much Nigel for coming in and sharing all your fantastic tips. Nigel Barker: My pleasure. Allison McNamara: It’s a pleasure having you. Now, where we can buy your book? Nigel Barker: Well, you can go my website BeautyEquation.com and you’ll see at the of the page it says, “Buy the Book”, and of course it’s available at all great book retailers so get your copy and start feeling beautiful. Allison McNamara: Glad. I have already my own copy and I love for you to sign it. Between both colors, Steven shoes, shoes that break and cuddled with clutches. The long fashion week show off very wearable looks for spring 2011. Wear Bruce and Kelly Green stood out as the bow colors of choice at Prada, Joe Sander, Marni, Fendi and Gucci. We invented platform shoes like dredge and flat Oxfords and Mary Jane’s at Prada, sky-high strappy wedges at Fendi and embellished wooden platforms at Dolce and Gabbana took center stage. Downsizing from the large envelope clutches from last season, shocking statement clutches made a come back at Gucci, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana and Versus. Updating Spring 2010’s light and airy sheer style, and for your Armani, Dolce and Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Marni and Roberto Cavalli made shoefresh for next season. And there were handful of Milan fashion week ensembles that really caught our eye, a Dolce and Gabbana detailed white jacket and mini dress, sheer put-on platforms by Versus, his Gucci ensemble or T-squared, a bold colored black pant suit by Gucci and a long psychedelic print dress and bronze and white jacket that I really appreciate. And make sure to watch all of our Paris fashion we covered. Looking back, there was so much going on at New York Fashion Week. Between money from show to show, it was hard find to time to select the perfect outfit. So we teamed up with Edit New York to get me dress for one of the world’s biggest fashion events, Fashion Week. So you’re known for you beautiful selection here. Tell me about the process that you’re already had at Edit New York. Justin Warner: It’s a New York shopping experience that’s a townhouse basically. That’s in a chic, sophisticated location but it provides an environment that’s almost like shopping at home. Allison McNamara: I feel already home. Justin Warner: Yes, exactly. It’s very comfortable but just basically having really editors worked in a draft, the store. My favorite right now is pants of course, definitely. They have a great range between really great entry level price points, but then the dresses, blouses, pants as well, they are glam but definitely it has a sophisticated point of view, Joseph has been fantastic this season. It’s definitely going more with the clean feeling. These are like definitely our favorite ones in the store now. Allison McNamara: And here’s really got good, we start shopping. And after trying on a bunch of incredible looks, Justin and I had narrowed it down to five. It’s not everyday that you get to wear designers like Proenza. So I was having a great time wearing all this outfits interviewing some of the biggest designers. I could not been happier with all my outfits.
