How to Get the Perfect Holiday Red for Kissable Lips! Zelena: Bold lips are always a daring move and there’s no better time in the holidays to pucker up and go red. Celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg teaches us the tricks to master that perfect red pout. It’s time to get out the mistletoe ladies. Jamie Greenberg: There’s a couple of key tricks to get the perfect red lip. Start with an exfoliated lip so that’s nice and smooth and ready for color. I like a home remedy. A little bit of sugar, a little of honey, exfoliate off the dead skin and then your lips are ready to roll. Next, we’re going to use a lip filler or plumper around the lip contour so that the red doesn’t bleed into the skin. I’m going to lightly dub it onto the lip contour getting this plumped and rejuvenated. I’m now going to use concealer to even out her lip tone so that we get the true color of the red on her lips. It’s pretty much like you're priming your canvas to accept the color. Prepping a lips keeps the lips lock all night long so sip away on your champagne and don’t worry about fading. It’s all about that right shade of red. There are so many different reds to choose from and I know it can be confusing. So, let me just break it down to you visually right now so that you can pick the best red for you. This is Shu Uemura Red 165, a pink sheer undertone. If you have light skin, you want to stick with something that has a little blue undertone like a true red. This is Dex in Ruby. If you have medium skin, you want to stick with something that has an orange undertone. This is Christian Dior Celebrity Red. This is Bare Escentuals Buxom Line in Barcelona with creaky undertones good for medium to dark skin. This is Mark’s Glow Baby Glow in Blow Kisses and it has a nice plumy raspberry undertone, good for dark skin. When in doubt, go for a Ruby Red. It’s my go-to color and that’s what we’re going to be using today. For my universal Ruby shade, we’re going with ready to wear by Clinique. You’re going to apply it all inside the lip area. You don’t have to go close to the outside. It’s lipliner time but not like it used to be where you’d outline the whole entire lip in one color. We’re going to be using a flesh tone lipliner and a red lipliner. Start with the red lipliner and go just for the natural above the lip is then we’ll go underneath where the lip ends. Now, we’re going to be using a flesh tone right on the outside of the lips. So, this is cleaning up any mistakes so it’s making sure you’ve perfect lines and then blend with your fingers. So if this red is a little too much for the holiday party take a little sheer red lip gloss to change it up. There you have it, the perfect red lip, just in time for the mistletoe. Zelena: Happy holidays! Stay beautiful and we’ll see you next time on Bella TV.
