How an Editor Assembles and Produces a Magazine Photo Shoot Erik Michielsen: How does working as an editor at SELF Magazine challenge you to coordinate so many moving parts involved in putting together a shoot? Lulu Chen: Well, it's really hard because a lot of times the photo shoots would have to come together in one to two days. And goes back to early self-discipline, I think, is just to do each part, and take one thing at a time. So, as a producer for the shoots itself, I just have to put the team together, put the visual together, get it close together, just as soon as I could, I guess, depending on the deadline. But you just do the puzzle and you just do each part and you'll learn how to prioritize, because being in a larger corporate environment, thing take time to get the advance checks, to get the insurance, to get the advances.
